Entrevista a Iñaki Sagredo

For Durango Iñaki’s Fair Sagredo it (I have, she) is edited to documentary in DVD concerning (around) the history of Navarre, based on the work of investigation (research) that it (I have, she) is developed for years on the of Navarre castles, the defensive system of the Basque kingdom.
- Of what it(he,she) tells the history do they count(tell) the castles of Navarre?
The documentary crosses great part(report) of Vasconia/Navarra’s history across his(her, your) castles. It is something not known from a documentary. The defense of the people(village) vascón from his(her, your) origins, which it was later a so called Kingdom of Pamplona and Navarre, to protect a common people(village) that it was including far beyond of what today it(he,she) is known by Euskalherria. Always we put as example the silhouette of the map of the castles, his(her, your) borders; then, we place the map of the Basque toponymy and it(he,she) coincides to the perfection. An immense territory that was coming from the southern part of Cantabria up to Ribagorza, where the Basque toponymy has almost 50 % of toponyms with Basque root. Being like that, we can think that one of the principal keys would be her(it) of formulating the following questions: The kings vascones were conscious that this territory that was including from Cantabria Ribagorza was forming a part of a cultural and ancient entity and for this reason the great kingdom arose pirenaico? For what reason, unlike other kingdoms, do they never be beyond these territories Basque speakers in his(her, your) conquest?
What does offer the documentary to the spectator? An investigation(research), a didactic vision, a statement of the past, a movie …?
The documentary ” The defense of the vascones ” is realized from a different perspective. We have sought to report but first of all to realize a historical work, trying to move with the help of images to the places that we sense beforehand. They are not cold, panoramic images and without movement, but we look for the first planes, images in the perfect hours to create this climate that we need(specify) in every paragraph of the script. If we are employed at Iruña, The stone will be looked and with the music the necessary imagination that he(she) accompanies together with the script on the visualization that we need(specify). Evidently this idea moves away from the typical documentary historical work, but it(he,she) makes possible that the one that sees the documentary imagines and feels what we are describing.
- With what idea have you developed this project?
The principal idea is it of marrying to the light a work that, though it(he,she) appears in the books of the castles (Navarre. Castles that defended the kingdom), here he(she) adopts another format in the one that, since I have said, my I had liked that they had explained our history to me; feeling every phrase of our past. If we speak of vascones, nobody understands(includes) well these delimitings, how this kingdom arose pirenaico from the 11th century, etc. In end(purpose), it is a different way of answering to these questions, but thrilling at the same time.
- What current importance has a medieval study centred on the Middle Ages?
Possibly it is the darkest epoch of the history, more unknown but also the one that more interest provokes.
For example, recently, the technical personnel of the general file of Navarre, did a study to know that type of documentation was most requested and with difference it was the medieval one. It is something palpable. They want to know all of Navarre and his(her, your) independent past. to the Diary of Navarre it(he,she) echoes this worry(restlessness) and works publications on history of the kings of Navarre and other medieval topics with the danger that carries it for his(her, your) ideology, but it is something that the Navarrese ones need(specify) and cannot refuse. It is possible that this worry(restlessness) reflects in the line of his(her, your) current politics(policy).
- What collaborators have you had in this project? Those who have taken part in his(her, your) production?
The work arose from the publishing house Pamiela to reinforce the last book of the collection. Navarre. Castles that defended the kingdom. But as we were employed at the project, we feel the need to give him(her) an impulse with major extent. It was the suitable idea to make something different. The project has been realized by Gurutz Cilbeti, Mikel Santakiteria and Ruben Marcilla, the voices have been contributed by the journalists Pagola and Gaizka Aranguren for the version in Basque, The music is chargeable in his(her, your) immense majority with the composer Englishman(English) Richard Edwars y Ortzadar. I finally have realized the script and have advised in some thing, but all the work has been taken by my companions.
- Have you more projects of this style in perspective?
In these moments we are expectant to the critiques to this work. To know if we manage to come to what we propose, if there is good critique, if there take place(are produced) the sales that support other works, etc. At a future it would perform good to continue insisting on this format and on this perspective flatly shortly, intimate scene and surrounding music. Possibly the work is tried to take as project for the ETB but still lacking to make concrete some things and to do editions in Frenchman and Englishman(English).
In these moments, with the work of the finished DVD, the goal from the publishing house is to extract for Durango the book of the history of Amaiur’s castle, with a great quantity of unpublished information taken from different state and European files, which explain the life of the mythical strength(fortress) from the times of Rome up to the 19th century and the last book of the collection Navarre. Castles that defended the kingdom 4 º Or last volume that will go out to the light in February, 2009. In a future we are opened that arise more projects.
